Key takeaways
Every project is di昀昀erent and soil management costs are dependent on the development project size and scope, volume of excess soil to be relocated, geographic location, and the quality of the excess soil.
Although Ontario has not yet established a program of set 昀椀nes or Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMPs) related to excess soil management, there are
other considerations in non-compliance for excess soil management, such as
operating an unapproved dump site.
It is evident from these examples that there is an incremental cost for ensuring
compliance with O. Reg. 406/19. However, it is also evident that there could be
a high cost involved in mitigating illegal activities.
So, with these project examples in mind, can you a昀昀ord to be non-compliant?
