Canada. Germond was previously CEO for Veolia Belgium and Luxembourg. Building on Veolia Canada’s

Pollution Probe, Canada’s longest-standing environmental
not-for-pro昀椀t, charitable organization, appointed Melissa
DeYoung as Chief Executive O昀케cer (CEO) on April 1, 2025.
DeYoung, who previously served as Vice President, succeeded
outgoing CEO Christopher Hilkene, who continues with the
organization as Executive Chair.
“Melissa is incredibly quali昀椀ed, holding a Master of Environmental Studies degree
from York University, and bringing expertise in health-related programming, chemicals and plastics management, transportation, circular economy and water,” said Parminder Sandhu, Chair of the Pollution Probe Board of Directors. “She has been a driving force in environmental programming, policy, and advocacy at Pollution Probe for
almost 15 years and she will be an incredible asset to the organization in her new role.”
Germond will be responsible for leading the company’s GreenUp strategic
growth plan in Canada to expand Veolia’s leadership in providing integrated
environmental services to cities and industries in the water, waste and energy
sectors to help customers achieve their operational and sustainability goals.
“I am thrilled to join Veolia Canada at this pivotal moment as we continue to
build on our strong foundation and expand our integrated environmental services across the country,” said Germond. “With our GreenUp strategic growth
plan and our dedicated team, we are well-positioned to help Canadian cities
and industries achieve their sustainability goals while maintaining our leadership in water, waste, and energy solutions.”
“I am honoured to lead Pollution Probe into its next chapter,” said DeYoung. “I am
looking forward to building on the strong foundation established by Christopher and to
working alongside our dedicated team to advance our mission of 昀椀nding substantive and
enduring solutions to pressing environmental issues.”
