The Joe Chowaniec Scholarship
Englobe Hires First ESG Director
Joe Chowaniec has dedicated over 30 years
to the Environmental Services Association
of Alberta (ESAA). Beginning his journey as a
university student, Chowaniec advanced through
every level of the association and is now retiring
from his role as executive director.
Geneviève David Watson is Englobe’s new
Environment, Social, Governance (ESG) Director.
Recognized as a visionary and leader within the environmental sector, he is
well-regarded by his peers. With a commitment to making a di昀昀erence “one day
at a time,” he champions people and fosters achievement. Beyond his professional endeavors, he captures the splendor of the planet through his photography.
“Geneviève’s extensive experience, passion for
sustainable development and creative mindset are an
ideal 昀椀t at Englobe,” said Karine Desforges, senior vicepresident at Englobe. “With her seasoned leadership and assured
guidance, I have no doubt we’ll successfully achieve our ambitious
ESG targets and objectives.”
In honor of his incredible contributions, ESAA is proud to present two scholarships to students enrolled in environmental programs at Canadian universities
or colleges. One is dedicated to ESAA members and their families and the second is for non ESAA members. The scholarships are valued at $2,500 for ESAA
members and $1,500 for non members. This year’s scholarship application is
open and the winners will be announced in October at RemTech 2024.
Watson joins Englobe from Groupe Montoni, where she designed and
drafted the company’s ESG Plan and all related outreach programs
and communications, built a multidisciplinary team, and provided
senior management with expert advice on the strategies and
programs to be developed and implemented. Earlier in her career,
she held consulting roles in ESG strategy, environment, climate
change and sustainability at Union des municipalités du Québec and
Réseau environnement.
