Irina Gorbounova Joins CHAR Tech
Board of Directors
New Members for B.C. Climate
Solutions Council
Toronto, Ont.-based CHAR Technologies
welcomed ArcelorMittal’s Irina Gorbounova,
vice president of M&A and head of the XCarb®
Innovation Fund, to its Board of Directors.
Newly appointed members of the B.C. Climate
Solutions Council, including Denni Clement, climate
action peer network lead for the Coastal First Nations
Great Bear Initiative, will support the province's work to
transition to a clean economy.
Gorbounova brings a wealth of experience in sustainable development within
the steel industry. Throughout her 18-year tenure at ArcelorMittal, she has
demonstrated a steadfast commitment to carbon-neutral steelmaking through
strategic investments in decarbonization and innovation.
In addition to her role at ArcelorMittal, Gorbounova holds board and advisory
positions at forefront companies like Boston Metal, LanzaTech, H2Pro,
Breakthrough Energy, Form Energy Inc - all innovators in clean energy and
decarbonization technology.
“After another year of unprecedented climate impacts and the worst
wild昀椀re season in B.C.’s history, we know we need to accelerate our
work taking action on climate change,” said George Heyman, Minister
of Environment and Climate Change Strategy. “We also know that B.C.’s
economy is strong and diversi昀椀ed, not despite climate action, but because of climate action.”
